International Students – Duoc UC

International Students

Duoc UC is one of the leading educational institutions in Chile. In 2010, we received a 7 out of 7 institutional accreditation from the Accreditation National Commission (Comisión Nacional de Acreditación), which certifies the quality of our project and its relevance among the higher education institutions in our country. Only three higher education institutions in Chile have this distinction. Duoc UC is the only Professional institute, alongside the most important two Universities in the country.

Our future students are able to pick one from our 82 technical and professional degree programs through 9 schools over 16 campuses in Santiago, Concepción (south of Chile), Viña del Mar and Valparaíso (The Historic Quarter of the Seaport City of Valparaíso is a UNESCO World Heritage Site). Our infrastructure includes over 130 laboratories and workshops. Other available equipment is available over an area equivalent to 712,385 ft².

Duoc UC offers “industry-focused” educational programs, through its 2-year “technical” and 4 year-long “professional” degrees. It provides a stimulating learning environment and state-of-the-art facilities to pave the way for academic success.

First, check that your home university or polytechnic institute has an ongoing exchange agreement with Duoc UC.

Thoroughly research your prospective courses. Most of our programs are in Spanish; therefore make sure you have sufficient proficiency in this language for your classes. We do offer a free 44 hour Spanish course for all non-native Spanish speakers, but in order to successfully complete your courses we advise at least an intermediate Spanish level.

For non-Spanish speakers, Duoc UC also offers the Tourism and Hospitality Program, fully taught in English.

  • 15 August– 15 October*: application for the first semester, March – July term
  • 15 February – 15 April*: application for the second semester, August – December term

*We advise students with Chinese nationality to apply as soon as the application period begins since the visa procedure can take up to six months.

A month after the application period ends, students will be informed via e-mail whether they have been accepted or not. In the case of being accepted, a hard copy of the acceptance letter will be sent to the International Student Officer of the student’s home institution.

If accepted, the student must:

Approach the nearest Chilean embassy/consulate and request the necessary information regarding the student visa procedure. A student visa is compulsory in order to participate in the Duoc UC exchange program. Upon arrival a simple copy of the student visa must be handed in to the Student Coordinator at Duoc UC.

Retain a medical insurance with international coverage for the period the student will be in Chile. A simple copy of the insurance must also be handed in to the Student Coordinator upon arrival.

Together with the acceptance letter, the student will receive the name and e-mail of their Program Director. It is very important the student gets in touch with their Director via e-mail to agree on the courses he/she will be taking at Duoc UC. All e-mail correspondence should cc the student coordinator mpintol@duoc.cl

At the end of their exchange all international students have to answer the “International Students Survey”. The link to the survey will be sent at the end of the semester. Once the student has answered the survey, a hard copy of the transcript record will be sent to the International Student Officer in their home university. A digital copy of the transcript can be sent directly to the student if requested by him/her.
